PANDAS Manual

Administering Users

The Administer Users module is only accessible to Agency Administrators, PANDAS Administrators and System Administrators. Standard Users and Informational Users will not see this option on the Main Menu screen. If you have Administrator privileges you will firstly need to activate your privilege using the Alter my access level (temporary) function in order for the Administer Users link to appear on the Main Menu. To view the Main Menu screens for the various user levels click here.

The Administer Users module allows an administrator to create new users for their agency, to modify their users' details, to reset their users' passwords and to delete their agency's users from PANDAS. The PANDAS Administrator is able to perform these tasks for all agencies.

To access the Adminster Users screen click on the Administer Users link on the Main Menu.

Creating a New User

To create a new user for your agency, click on the Create button and the Add New User screen will appear.

Mandatory fields when registering a new user are the First Name and Surname fields and the email@ field. The default user level is Standard User.

Enter user details and select the user level (if other than Standard User) and click the Save button.

The new user's login and password are created from the user's first name and surname in the form of the initial letter of the first name and the full surname, all in lower case. For example, a user registered with the first name Edward and surname Kelly will be allocted the login ekelly. The password defaults to the same as the login. The new user will be asked to change their password when they logon for the first time.

Modifying a User's Details

To edit a user's details, click on the edit icon next to the user's name on the Administer Users screen. This will open the Edit User screen.

From the Edit User screen you can modify a user's contact details, change their user access level and reset their password.

Resetting a User's Password

If you need to reset a user's password, for example if they forget it, you can do this from the Edit User screen. Just type a new password over the asterisks in the Password and Verify boxes and click the Save button. The user can then use the password you assigned to them to log on, then they can change the password to one of their own choice through My Settings.

NB: The password always displays as asterisks, so while an Adminstrator is able to reset a user's password they are not able to view the actual password at any time.

Deleting a User

To delete a user from PANDAS click on the red next to the user's name on the Administer User screen. The Delete User screen will appear and you will be asked to confirm that you wish to delete the user. Click the Delete button to proceed with deleting the user.
